Earth Day and Creating Art

I missed Earth Day in Balboa Park this year, but I do have fond memories of celebrating Earth Day a few years ago when I volunteered to do art with the kids. The World Beat Center was having their own celebration and I demonstrated how we could use recycled items and nature to create unique art. Kids love doing this! You can use any of these items:
* plastic bottles
* empty food cans
* rocks
* glass bottles
Buy acrylic paint and paintbrushes at your local art store and create works of art on these items!
I wish I had pictures of the Earth Day event, but they were eaten up by my old computer! However, I did come across this article about an artist, Vickie Buxton, who uses recycled bottles as her canvas.
