My Way of Managing Business

My mind has been all over the place for the past couple weeks.  I’ve been coming up with different money-making ideas not related to my art or jewelry business and have been writing up a storm over at Squidoo.  Writing gigs are coming up left and right and it seems that jewelry-making and painting have been put on the backburner for now.  Although, I did take a break from writing yesterday and made this gorgeous, bright and colorful necklace that reminds me of fruit cocktail!  I’d upload a picture of it, but somehow I’ve “misplaced” the little gadget I need to upload the file from my memory stick.  Just another reminder that I do need to slow down…

Despite all this “business management” that I’m doing - some might call it “running around like a chicken with her head cut off” -  I feel very inspired and productive in the projects that I’m tackling.  I have a little post-it on my computer that says, “Stay Focused!” and I look at it about 100 times a day.  Needless to say, I’m feeling very focused and doing what I need to be doing to get to the next level.  I like to call it "going with the flow" and letting my Inner Guide tell me what I should be doing at any given moment during the day.

Father's Day Thoughts

With Father’s Day just around the corner, I’ve been hacking my brain on what to get for pops on this special day.  Actually, I believe that Father’s Day should be every day and that we should take time out every week – if not every day – to honor our fathers.

I bought supplies to make Father’s Day cards to sell this year, but for some reason I got caught up in blogging projects that I just didn’t make any time to sit down and make some.  Maybe next year.

So, today I will venture out into San Diego on the hunt for the perfect Father’s Day gift.  Being that San Diego is a military town right by the ocean and my father served time in the Navy, I’m sure there’s a plethora of nautical gifts out there.  Over at Kobey’s Swap Meet I have also seen vendors who sell ships and airplanes made of carved wood.  Very artistic.

Speaking of artistic, I did come across these model ships over at GoNauticalGifts.com.  People say that making jewelry takes a lot of patience….I think putting these little ships together would take so much more patience!

But then again, I could give pops nautical décor for his room by creating a painting…That would definitely be more personal.

My Interview With Laura Gambucci

I think it totally slipped my mind last month to post here my interview with Laura Gambucci, a boutique owner in La Jolla.  The article was featured on San Diego Magazine's website and it was my second article ever to be published for a magazine.  My first article was about home decorating and was featured in a Las Vegas home magazine a few years ago.  However, this was my first interview as a "journalist" and weird as it may sound - I was nervous.

Perhaps I was feeling a bit insecure as a writer because I never took any journalism classes in high school or college.  But why be nervous?  After all, I've been writing since I was four-years-old and have ten+ blogs that are read by thousands of people.  Why all of a sudden do I feel this way?

Anyhow, I'm pretty happy with the finished product.  I really enjoyed getting to know Laura Gambucci.  She's a very talented stylist and interior designer with many creative ideas.  If you're ever in San Diego, I recommend checking out her boutique!  It's located at 7629 Girard Avenue in La Jolla, California.
